Me and my teammates researched and analyzed another opening film sequence called Eunoia, which was made by another student who has taken this Media studies course. We mainly used this to focus on the editing and sound and how we could incorporate something similar in our film. With the editing in the film you can see the full concept is black and white while the main objective in the scene is the one thing that has color. The main character basically using voiceover/ narration work in the beginning sequence with this editing of the parents arguing at the beginning and the sound affect of the door slamming. This was very helpful in our process of understanding film. 

 In the opening film of the giver the narration of the main character Jonas takes us through a journey through the opening scene. Starting at the establishing shot and going through the scenes he narrates and talks about his life and the world that he lives in. The wonderful things about the world and the not so wonderful things. He realizes that however he is different from everyone else and his friends who are supposed to be living basically the same lives. I learned and was able to establish what an establishing shot looks like. The cutting of shots with the different elements of Mise en scene really being emphasized. With their costumes in this world everyone wears the same shirt and pants. The editing of this opening scene shows a black and white world with the lighting being soft. Overall a very helpful example about opening scenes in films.

Catherine Monroe, the main character's mother, is shocked by what her daughter is discovering about her late husband. She is played by Connie Nielsen. 5. William Monroe, the main character's brother. He is played by Chace Crawford. What do you think the film is about? This film seems like a thriller, suspense. A rich and successful girl losses her father....
