Elements in Lighting

Direction in lighting is the simplest of light qualities that are relative to your camera. There are three directions: frontal, side, and backlighting. They all have different effects on how your subject appears due to the shadows on cast.

The quality in lighting is defined by the size of the light source relative to the subject. When talking about quality we are basically asking how "soft" or "hard" the shot is

Color is an important part of films when it comes to shot choices. The color of light can be objectively determined by using a color temperature meter. Light and colors can have a profound influence on the overall mood of a scene.

The source in lighting is anything that makes the light. Whether you get the lighting from the sun, or a lamp those are sources that can help a film.
